NEW TOWN COUNCIL FOR NEWPORT ELECTED

I went along to the vote count for the Newport and Ryde parish elections today. I was delighted that my partner Mary Craven was elected top of the poll in Fairlee ward, and even more delighted that there will seemingly be a non-Tory majority on the new Newport Town Council when it is constituted on 12 May, with only four known Tories being elected. One Tory County Councillor lost in his own ward - as did another (the Chair of Planning) in the Ryde elections.

Nationally the local elections were bad - just as they were in 2004. Labour nationally needs to reconnect with its core voters and to start shaping events instead of reacting to them. We will then repeat 2005 in 2009/10.

I am taking a week out from tomorrow, but expect to hear an explosion of joy somewhere in the Newport area this evening if Livingstone beats that buffoon.

IF being the operative word. It's not going to happen, people are sick of lying, traitorous Labour and people in London are sick of Livingstone, all he is, and all he stands for.

No-one is going to believe the lies any more, however they are packaged. Labour has had it, hopefully for the rest of this century and longer (unless the world is taken over by aliens or worse) in which case it won't matter anyway.

Dear Mr Anon

Thanks for your usual cogent and rational contribution to my blog.Have you thought about therapy for your condition ?

Get well soon

Geoff

The therapy for this condition is a change of government.

As soon as possible. Give it up Mr Brown, you've failed. Time to accept the inevitable and go.

Hear Hear! Ken is toast, just as I predicted, Gordon's been given a very bloody nose. He'll be biting those nails even more furiously now, he knows he will never win an election - what a thing for him to live with eh?

As for Boris - he's clearly a very clever man, well educated too, (cue sniping about Tory privelege) far more so than anyone wearing a Labour coat. I'd wager he makes a great job of running London. The winners will be Londoners. Ken was a disaster, playing international politics as always, goodbye and good riddance 'Red Ken'

PS The real buffoon of British politics has been that national joke Prescott! God how the electorate must've hated him. I reckon that greedy fat pig was single-handedly responsible for the public holding all politicians in contempt. 'Tracey love, cop a load of this and don't tell Pauline'

Hey! Prescott is back - sadly not telling all about his rogering Tracey but how Gordon and Tony hated each others guts.

This in the same week that Tony and wife pay £4million for a new country pile to add to his extensive property portfolio.

These Labour people are worse than Tories, all of them! What greed, what contempt for the little people. The Labour party was had by Tony and Sherry, now they're taking what they see as their reward for 'saving' Labour. Pass the sick-bag.

Geoff,
May I say that,as a life long Tory vote, you do a great job at local level politics. You seem to be one of the only honest councillors left at County Hall.I hope you are not tarred by the same brush as the Brown Government.
And nasty Mr Anon wake up and smell the coffee.I ,and many of my friend, will not be voting Tory at local level again. The ruling Tories on the Island are a total disgrace. They will be kicked out in the next election and probably have to wait another 25 years to get back into power.
Stop being so smug. These arrogant Tories need to realise they were voted in the be the voice of the people, not to feather their political nests.

If there is that choice of course. All the main parties are ready to roll over for a European takeover. Which will be much easier for them when Labour has managed to bankrupt the country. It has probably been the plan all along.

PFI's and failure to tackle welfare abuse - the two biggest Labour failures. I know the Tories introduced PFI's but Labour have abused them big time. The UK can't afford what Tony and Gordon have committed us to. Future generations will suffer, we will indeed go bust as a nation that's my prediction. Before long the other EU nations will be paying to save us!

What comment didn't you like? Could you share it with us, reassure regular readers you're not acting like Mugabe allowing only the opinions you agree with.

Free speech and thought is very important.

I won't allow my blog to be used to promote the BNP - a fascist party that would deny free speech. This blog is not a general forum and does not claim to be. It is maintained by me and I welcome comments on my musings, no matter how much I disagree with them - provided they are not offensive.

By refusing to discuss you are yourself denying free speech and are therefore being hypocritical.

Who on earth is the tory twat that keeps posting on here. Everytime I read his comments I remember why I vote Labour. If it's a choice between the current gvt and these dimwits, give me the former.
