SILENCE OF THE SHEEP ?

I have just realised something unusual about last night’s Full Council. Apart from the Chairman and the 5 Cabinet members present, not one of the other 25 Tory councillors opened their mouths. That may not be unusual for most of them, but for someone like Cllr Mazillius – who generally makes Deborah and I look like Trappist monks – that is totally astonishing………

What on earth was going on. Have they been banned by the leadership from speaking for fear of making fools of themselves ? Or have they just got nothing to say……..

Mazillius a busted flush, working out his last few months.

The rest of them? Well like you say Geoff, they're sheep. Many of them deserve to lose come the election. Only time will tell if they do.

What's this about a car parking scandal. What do you know?

Rubbish! Surely this man who was a Tory then an independent then a Tory wont fight again? Heaven help us. You know he fought Turner to become the island's Mp?

Have you heard the news? An insider pal at County Hall tells me the Tories propose increasing the cost of an island car park permit. You know, the one that was £50?

It will now be £700. Can you do some digging Geoff? Surely they can't do this. My spy tells me it's because car park revenue and fines are so much lower than they had predicted. Dumb islanders just aren't parking on enough yellow lines.

They do it all the time in Niton (park on yellow lines). Council missing out on a small fortune in parking and dog-fouling fines. What's the point in making regulations if no bugger is about to enforce them?
The village is full of little old ladies who toddle up the road, squeeze their dogs in or fairly near the gutter, then toddle home again; just some of the delights of rural living. What we need out here is David Pugh, in peaked cap and with clipboard, putting a stop to it all and relieving the hard-pressed Council Tax payer in the process.

Re. Comment 2: Not just a rumour - His recent Newsletter was quite clear "[Cowes South and Northwood] I will be offering myself for re-election to represent this new larger electoral division in 2009".

Can't find it on the local website though, but there is a very interesting discussion on Parish councillors and precepts. See: www.northwoodvillage.org.uk

Roger was never a man to leave a tempting silence unfilled, but he does ask intelligent (and often awkward) questions. It's getting him to ask them of the right people that's the problem, given his current political allegiance.
Despite the recent completely dimwit allegations made against him, and just dismissed, he's not a bully, either. A civic ornament, on the whole...

That tremulous trigger-finger struck again. Sorry.

He's twenty years past his best. If he ever had one. How can you take seriously anyone who chops and changes political party every time someone disagrees with him?

His silence under the present administration is quite deafening.

It's fellow-feeling. I'm 20 years past mine, too.

Mazillius is a busted flush - and two faced.
