ISLAND TORIES, STAB IN THE BACK

Tomorrow night at Full Council the Tory Council leader plans to take away the Council's Local Government Association (LGA) position held by his predecessor for the past three and a half years.

Does he know something we don't, I wonder ????????

Do you mean that he is going to change the holder of the post, or remove the post altogether?

What does the LGA position entail?

Sorry, was half asleep, the last post was D.R.

Is by chance the verdict of the National Standards Board due on the behaviour of Cllr Sutton, Bishop and the other cronies over the latters planning application ?

I,m a bit confused here, was Cllr Sutton the representative then? I know what you are talking about now I've looked at the agenda.

Do you know anything about Common Purpose Cllr Lumley? If you do, what do you think about it?

Ooh, Tory infighting. Makes a change from Labour. Since 'an end to boom and bust' Gordon saved the banks with ooodles of our cash Labour have been on a love-in!

Come on, tell us what this is all about. Pugh removes Sutton? Surely it's the LGA who have that power? And poor Andy does this as a job doesn't he? For more dough than IWC Leaders pay?

Oh! It now seems 'an end to boom and bust' Gordon hasn't saved the banks after all, the markets continue to fall today. Does this mean he'll stop looking quite so smug?

And they say we can't get an appointment to see a GP either. We already knew that eh?

Maybe Mandy can fix everything?

I have deleted an Anonymous comment at 8.17pm as it was in my untutored view potentially libellous regarding the former Council Leader and another councillor. I don't want threatening letters from the Council about things NOT posted by me. I am accountable for my actions, but not others

So I will ask again, do you know anything about 'common purpose' or do you just not want to answer? I have no problem with that but please be open about it and not just ignore the question. Thank you.

DR - I am not your personal solicitor just sitting here all day to answer your questions, and 'god' help you if I was ! I probably know as much about 'common purpose' as you do, but prefer not to be a barrack-room lawyer.

Thank you for your answer Cllr Lumley, I would have preferred it if you had resisted the urge to be sarcastic but I guess you can't help yourself.

It was merely a polite enquiry as you seem to be knowledgeable about politics and, as you went to LSE, I would expect that to be the case.
Perhaps I am wrong about that.

By the way, it is also polite to consider other people's feelings and use a capital letter when writing 'God', whether you believe in Him or not.

What I don't get is why you want to run a blog and not have people take an interest in political affairs.

sincerely,

D.R.

DR - fair points about sarcasm and 'God', and you have my apology. I must try to be less impatient !

'Common purpose' is a legal term, but not a political one as far as I am aware.

I set up my blog 3.5 years ago to give a different view on the official one that comes out of Conservative County Hall. I am happy to read comments on here - even one's I fundamentally disagree with - but it was never somewhere where I would debate issues. That's why I don't reply too often - mainly beacuse I just don't have the time.

gawd DR is in a snit isn't he - passive aggressive or what! Calm down dear, it's only a blog...

Geoff - you are toooooo polite, really.

By the way (ready for this) 'common purpose' is (te he)

'Common Purpose is identifying leaders in all levels of our government to assume power when our nation is replaced by the European Union, in what they call “the post democratic society.” They are learning to rule without regard to democracy, and will bring the EU police state home to every one of us.

Common Purpose is also the glue that enables fraud to be committed across these government departments to reward pro European local politicians. Corrupt deals are enabled that put property or cash into their pockets by embezzling public assets.

It has members in the NHS, BBC, the police, the legal profession, the church, many of Britain’s 7,000 quangos, local councils, the Civil Service, government ministries, Parliament, and it controls many RDA's (Regional Development Agencies).'

From the 'People's United Collective' - gosh, I had no idea...

Oh, this is probably what it is (sorry, the post above was my little joke, but it seemed to fit with the mindset of DR as evidenced on this blog)

'Common purpose, common design or joint enterprise refers to the situation where two or more people embark on a project with a common purpose that results in the commission of a crime. In this situation the participants are jointly liable for all that results from the acts and omissions occurring within the scope of their agreement.'

'The doctrine derives from R v Swindall and Osborne (1846) 2 Car. & K. 230 where two cart drivers engaged in a race. One of them ran down and killed a pedestrian. It was not known which one had driven the fatal cart, but since both were equally encouraging the other in the race, it was irrelevant which of them had actually struck the man, and they were held jointly liable. Thus, the parties must share a common purpose and make it clear to each other by their actions that they are acting on their common intention so that each member of the group assumes responsibility for the actions of other members in that group. When this happens, all that flows from the execution of the plan will make them all liable.'

There - humerous and educational. What more could you want? I used to have a life on Friday evenings...

Why is it that clever dicks like Yoda have to resort to insults? Whoever you are Yoda, I'd love to meet you face to face. Perhaps I need to explain to you that politeness costs nothing and is one of the things which evidences a civilised society.

This civilised society is in the process of being rapidly destroyed in this country. You, as shown by your attitude, obviously approve. Perhaps you have your nose in the trough and don't want to have it taken away from you?

D.R.

Gotcha!

Insults? Have you ever read back your own statements DR? You wouldn't know politeness if it bit you on the arse!

All there is here is a bit of gentle leg pulling - a deflating of the pomposity that you demonstrate in spades. Don't come the old middle class 'how could you be so rude' when you demonstrate an arrogant disregard of anyone else's point of view and hand out your own aggressive bon mots. Probably goes down a wow in the Lodge eh?

As for 'I'd like to meet you face to face' - what's that then, some form of threat? Ooooooooh, really of you scared I am....the dark side is strong in you I think....

You want to know who I am - then leave your name and e-mail and I'll return the favour and perhaps we can meet for a drink one night and have a civilised conversation about the great issues of the day? After you old boy.

Something tells me that there is no possibility of a civilised conversation with you Yoda and since when has politeness been only a middle class attribute? That's an undeserved insult to working class people.

Geoff Lumley had the good grace to apologise for his sarcasm, You are not capable of even acknowledging it, let alone apologising. Your infantile postings do you no credit.

Sigh. I didn't say politeness was only a middle class attribute - it was about your own double standards and how you get an attack of the vapours everytime you're challenged. 'oooh, how could you be so rude...oooooh' It's a middle class form of suppression and I for one am not going to wear it.

So your wish to meet with me was more b/s then - thought so. In the meantime, I shall exert my freedom to enter into discourse with others on this blog who at least have a reasonable opinion (even if I don't always agree with them - Geoff L being one!). Hopefully they have a sense of humour! Ta ta old boy...be seeing you!
