COMBATING THE COUNCIL PIRATES

The Labour Group tonight published its Alternative Budget for Council Tax this year.

Its main points are:

1. A 3.75% increase - just below inflation;

2. NO plundering of Reserves to balance the books;

3. Starting the financial year aiming to deliver the Government's efficiencies targets, rather than putting it off

Of course we may never get to the Budget given what else is on the Full Council agenda this Wednesday - the schools consultation abandonment motion, followed by the Ferry Fares Fair motion from us. Will be a long evening.

Re fair fares Geoff, I've lost the plot on the latest position for cancer patients et al who were concerned they would have to pay to go and get their life saving treatment, any idea what the latest is?

SO YOUR OPORTUNIST PUBLICITY STUNT FAILED. LET'S HOPE WE CAN NOW GET ON AND IMPROVE OUR 2ND RATE SCHOOL SYSTEM.

It is spelt "opportunist". Not be too picky, but I think if you're going to engage in a debate on education standards, you might show that you've had an education...

HA HA! I'LL TYPE MORE SLOWLY NEXT TIME, EXACTITUDE IS IMPORTANT TO AVOID DISCOMBOBULATION.

Just the ability to spell and not blame it on the keyboard would suffice....

An understanding of the SHIFT key would be helpful as well.

nIT PICKERS, PEDANTS!

I do believe nitpicker is just the one word, not two. It can be hyphenated, but that is usually in American English. Definitely not two words though.

Why are you being so finicky, dogmatic, quibbling?

Your pompous hypercritical carping is typical of someone losing an argument. It's the mesage that matters not the spelling.

D HOLMES (educated in a poorly funded by Labour comp.)

You mean a 'message' I presume?
Also please note that your parenthetic phrase is wrongly constructed. You should have said 'educated in a comp poorly funded by Labour'
