SUTTON VERDICT

I don't know about IW Councillors from other groups, but I feel pretty insulted by the Standards Tribunal recommendation that all councillors require training on

"enabling Councillors to recognise when they have personal and prejudicial interests and on the interaction between Members and Officers of the Council"

just because he was too stupid to see that what he was doing back in 2007 was plain wrong.

Come on Geoff, you know what that is about! Its about making sure that councillors know their place and dont disagree with what the council officers say and want. What Mike Stark said in the CP was spot on!!

Geoff, does this mean Cllr Sutton will have to stand down as he cannot attend meetings for 6 months? Cllr Win McRobert was stood down for that reason.

Cllr. Geoff Lumley said...

Apparently this 6 month's suspension period does not count. If he had any ethics he would of course resign now.......

Personally I had a lot of sympathy with Mike Starke's letter.

I agree, Mike's letter was spot on. Guilty thou? Sutton and Co were a bit foolish at worst, but the Officers and fellow Tories who were obviously plotting, really stitched them up. This process caused terrible stress and from our perspective, was a real waste of time and money.
